You can wear clothes with a lot of wearing ease, just remember to highlight the waist. A rectangle body shape can get away with wearing shorter skirts and shorts. Because your body type is naturally long and lean, don’t worry about chopping the body up horizontally unless you are quite petite. Look for shirt hems that end at the widest part of your hips. Especially remember to always play up your curves. The brighter/ lighter colors will really pop and add visual volume. Wear bright, light and pure color colors since they advance and then belt your outfit with a deep, shaded color for emphasis. Use textiles that advance like those with a pile or those with a sheen to create curves and use matte or dull textures at the waist to make it appear smaller. Textureįurthermore, using the fabric texture is a great way to add visual weight to your shoulders and hips. If using a pattern only at the waist make sure it’s a slimming pattern. You can use pattern all over or just in one area. If using directional patterns, use horizontal at the shoulder and hip with vertical at the waist. If you have a small frame, be careful to not wear patterns that are too large. In addition, use pattern in proportion to your frame. Horizontal pockets on your pants is a nice element that can add width at the waist. You can wear a variety of rises in your bottoms ranging from above the natural waist to to low on the hip. Other shoulder details on your tops can be very advantageous for you, too. Wide collars and boat neck necklines, off the shoulder tops and many of the cold-shoulder tops that are so popular right now will create great lines for you. To use line to your advantage, utilize horizontal details at your shoulders and at the widest part of your hips. In addition, boot cut pants also create curves. Avoid tube shapes and column styles unless they really emphasize the waist. Fit and flare dresses, wrap dresses, dresses with peplums or horizontal lines at the shoulder create perfect shapes for your rectangular figure. Look for silhouettes with fitted waists and volume or extra details that create emphasis at the hip and shoulders. You want to amp up the volume everywhere but the waist. For the banana body type, it’s kind of like you combine the rules for the triangles’ tops and the inverted triangles’ bottoms. Accomplish this by defining the waist and adding volume or visual weight to the shoulders and hips. Ultimately, the goal for this body type is to maintain balance between the upper and lower portions of the body and play up or emphasize your curves. If the difference in the width of the two measures is 5% or less and your waist measurement is less than 25% smaller than the other two, you fall in this category (If math isn’t your thing, just use my body shape quiz instead). The rectangle has shoulders and hips that are close to the same width. Don’t be confused by the name, they are the same thing. Its sexy plus-size dresses are worn by the world's top celebrities and models. For starters, some schools of thought call the rectangle body type the “banana”, but I like to refer to the geometric shapes and not the fruit. Ravines that must be crossed on a narrow path (e.g. (1) Environmental effects that inflict damage proportional to the number of creatures. Generally speaking, if you want to build an adventure that can challenge swarms of henchmen/conjured animals, you need one or more of: A CR 1/2 Magma Mephit's 2d6 breath weapon looks weak at first, but if it hits 5 targets on a strafing run, and then the Magma Mephit flies away to possibly do it again in a few rounds, it looks quite a bit better, especially if there are five other Magma Mephits doing the same thing. Swarms of monsters or PCs are hard to deal with on a single-target basis, but that's exactly where AoE (area of effect) shines. The other thing to be aware of is that 5E has kind of a rock-paper-scissors situation going on with monster design. But I figure some of you might be able to offer some sensible obvious things, where if ignored or missed, turn a spell into abuse. I understand this is unhelpfully vague, I mean you aren't at my table, and it's kinda hard to describe things you don't know you aren't doing. Now while I'm an old timer, I've been learning 5e and I have a nagging feeling we are totally ignoring something basic about running conjure animals that is making it overly strong. I'm just thinking I'm possibly missing something that had ended up making this spell outsized in its power at our table. I'm not one to just ban what's in the books. And it's ruining a lot of fun for everyone. So far, this has been screaming success introducing a new generation of kids to table top RPGs.Įxcept with the party reaching 5th level now, our druid found conjure animal for her 3rd level spell. We're playing Princes of the Apocalypse, everyone is loving it and excited for every session. I'm DMing, our player's party is a half-elf cleric, dragonborn barbarian, dwarf fighter, and tiefling druid. My son turned 16 so I felt now was a good time to introduce him to RPGs. I've been out of RPGs since the end of 3.5, occasionally dipped into try 4e and put it down. If all 4 results point to a peripheral cause, the overall HINTS plus examination is deemed “HINTS plus peripheral,” and suggests the patient likely has vestibular neuritis. 1 Each component of this examination can point to a peripheral or central cause for vertigo. The HINTS plus examination is a series of 4 bedside tests: the type of nystagmus seen, test of skew, head impulse test and a test of hearing. The term plus refers to a test of recent hearing loss.) Our differential diagnosis was a posterior circulation stroke versus vestibular neuritis, and to differentiate them, we used a clinical examination known as “HINTS plus” (head impulse, nystagmus and test of skew. We did not observe any vertical nystagmus. On physical examination, we found no motor weakness or dysmetria. He also reported that he did not have face or limb paresthesia, focal weakness, dysarthria, dysphagia, diplopia or dysphonia. He reported that he did not have headache, neck pain or ear symptoms. It was difficult for him to perform tandem gait. He was able to walk unaided but felt unsteady. The vertigo persisted to a substantial degree even when the patient remained still, and it worsened with movements such as going from lying down to upright or rapid head turning. A follow-up telephone interview 2 weeks after the patient presented to the emergency department determined that he had not had any further dizzy episodes.Ī 49-year-old man presented to the emergency department with an ongoing, constant spinning sensation for 12 hours that was accompanied by multiple bouts of vomiting. Given his clinical presentation and his favourable response to the Epley maneuver, we discharged the patient home with no medication. This was consistent with a diagnosis of left posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), which can be best managed using the Epley maneuver (an author video showing this patient’s Dix–Hallpike test and a demonstration of the Epley maneuver is available at ).įifteen minutes after completion of the Epley maneuver, repeat Dix–Hallpike testing of the patient’s left ear found no vertigo or nystagmus. It became more vertical upward when his gaze was directed toward his upward right ear. The nystagmus was mostly rotatory, with the upper poles of his eyes beating toward his downward left ear. However, during testing of the left side and after a brief latency of 2 or 3 seconds, he had vertigo and nystagmus that lasted 15 seconds. The patient’s right-sided Dix–Hallpike test was normal, without vertigo or nystagmus. Because his vertigo was started by head movements and lasted less than a minute and he had no nystagmus, he was a good candidate for positional testing. In the sitting position, he did not have nystagmus while looking straight ahead (spontaneous nystagmus) or when asked to gaze left and then right (gaze-evoked nystagmus). On physical examination, we found no focal weakness, sensory deficit or dysmetria. He did not have a headache, neck pain, decreased hearing, paresthesia in his face or limbs, visual field loss, dysarthria, dysphagia, diplopia or dysphonia. The intense vertigo resolved if he stayed still, but similar brief episodes recurred several times when he laid supine in the hospital. He came to the emergency department an hour later. Although lasting only 10–15 seconds, he became sweaty afterwards without nausea or vomiting. Case 1: benign paroxysmal positional vertigoĪt 4:00 am, a 71-year-old man turned over in bed onto his left side and experienced a sudden onset of dizziness, described as if the bed was moving. That magic of being able to program a little, have parts of your text talk to other parts of your text, to have your documents be really alive and you can just cast magic at it. Doob and while it’s a very different take I think starts to get towards a little bit of what that vision of Archy was. There’s a recent project called Observable by Jeremy Ashkenas, and Mr. It’s supposed to be a full-on zooming user-interface (ZUI), so no matter where you are you can zoom out and grab your bearings, and zoom in ad infinitum, a much better way of doing folders and taxonomies.Ĭomputers have this incredible magical power and text can do so much more than just a Word document can do. Everything was in one long, conceptual document, but we know that human beings work very well with spatial memory, so what you want is to have all of your content and work projects stored spatially. There were no files, because the best label for a file is the file itself, the content of it. You want to tear it apart and just have functionality that you can use anywhere. If that is where bloat comes from, and if 95% of the feature requests for features in Word are features that already existed in Word, maybe it’s the application as a framework which is broken. Over time the applications have to continue to increase in size and subsume more and more functionality until every application starts to converge from different directions on the same kind of application. If you’re making Photoshop it needs to have spell check because you have a text editor in there, and if you’re making Word you need to have Photoshop abilities because you’re putting in photos and you’ll want to edit them. You can think of applications as walled cities - they have to develop all of their own infrastructure. Immediately your text editor was up and you could start working. The idea being that when you sat down at your computer it’s supporting the thing you need to be doing. What was the grand idea for what this could potentially be?ĪR: Yeah, this was a turning of computing over on its head. HC: I feel that Archy as ended up was a partial implementation of a much bigger vision. Something Jef said all the time was write the manual first, if you’re having trouble explaining how your product will be used, your users will have trouble using it. People who had been in Jef’s orbit for a long time, like David Alzofon who did a lot of the original manual writing for - it may have even been the Apple II - an incredible technical writer. We were working simultaneously on a contract for Samsung to redesign their phones and were thinking of doing it in a zooming concept and using that funding to fund the Raskin Centre for Humane Interfaces, RCHI, and turn that into the be-all end-all text editor, and that became Archy.ĪR: I sort of imagine it to be like those 80s movies where the motley crew assemble to win the Super Bowl and has a sumo wrestler and clown, that was the kind of crew. – A scan of a Canon Cat advert by Marchin Wichary (source)Īrchy really got going in my junior year of college, so that was 2003 when we started coding. After selling something like 20,000 units they shut it down. They had put the Canon Cat into the same conceptual bucket as an electronic typewriter - just shows you what the thinking was like at that time. Many of them had first come to light in the Canon Cat after the Mac, before getting shut down by Canon when an electronic typewriter failed. So after Jef published his book, The Humane Interface, there was a strong desire to take many of those concepts that Jef had continued to work on around what are cognetics and the ergonomics of the mind and make a utility product that really worked the way our minds did. At what point did it coalesce and come together as a project?ĪR: It’s been so long that I have to sort of dredge through the murky, muddy water of memory. HC: I wanted to start with the genesis of Archy. I recently spent some time getting it up and running properly on modern Macs so I decided to chat with him to get some insight into this interesting chain of projects. Jef lead a team to make that vision a reality in the form of Archy.Īrchy never quite fulfilled its grand ambition, but its legacy continued in the forms of Enso (a Windows-focused implementation), and then Ubiquity (for Firefox).Īza Raskin, Jef's son, was the common thread between all of these projects. Until then, I hadn't even realised that it was even possible to question core artefacts like files or applications. It showed a vision of a world of computing which was radically different from the prevailing paradigms. Many years ago I read The Humane Interface by Jef Raskin which completely upended my notion of computing. State Farmer’s Market Restaurant | Raleigh I recommend ordering the Bad Grampa featuring fried chicken, a fried egg, cheese, and bacon on a biscuit as a combo with hash browns and a sweet tea. Offering “Bigger, Better Biscuits” for breakfast and lunch, they make one thing and do it well. Unlike some of the other places on this list, Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen is strictly a drive-thru operation. You know you’re getting close to Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen when all the cars on the road in front of you are suddenly stopped for no apparent reason – but the reason is that they’re all waiting patiently to pull in to place their order. There aren’t many places you can buy a filling breakfast for less than $10 these days. I regressed to my childhood with a fried bologna biscuit with an egg and cheese and hash browns that took up my entire plate, plus a coffee. But there is a reason that people come off the Blue Ridge Parkway to visit The Buttered Biscuit – to be rewarded with a delicious, no-thrills biscuit-like mama used to make. The lines tend to get long to go in, especially on weekends and holidays or during leaf-peeping season. One of the most affordable, home cooking biscuit meals on the entire list. There’s also a Biscuit Head in Greenville, SC. I recommend the Fried Green Tomato Biscuit featuring fried green tomatoes, brie, two poached eggs, and a smoked tomato hollandaise that I would have licked off the container if there was nobody watching and the Maple Bacon Latte because, well, bacon! The outdoor seating provided respite for those of us traveling looking for a place to eat that didn’t involve sitting in our cars or didn’t have the ability to take it home with us. On my visit to the Haywood Avenue location in the artsy West Asheville section of town, parking was a bit of an issue, though I did visit on a Sunday morning, probably the worst time to visit a biscuit breakfast place! I know! However, their online ordering, made the long lines move relatively quickly. This popular local franchise is a can’t-miss spot during your Asheville visit. Best Biscuits in North Carolina Biscuit Head | Asheville Many of these places are only open for breakfast and lunch, closing early, so please check their business hours before visiting them. So as we’ve explored our wonderful state and sampled some wonderful biscuits and compared notes with friends and other fans of the Southern delicacy, where are some of the best biscuits in North Carolina? Listed in no particular order, we scoured the state to find the best local businesses to compile this list of North Carolina’s best biscuits. So this list specifically looked for eateries that specialized in serving biscuits or made them a star of their menu. Where to even begin with the delicious flaky buttery goodness that is a good biscuit? In North Carolina, you can find a delicious biscuit served as a side or as bread would be if you were in the north. The Best Biscuit Eateries in North Carolina In cases where there are an odd number of suns, it’s possible to substitute a square of the same color instead. If the suns are from the same color as some of the squares, however, they can only occupy the same space as squares of a different color.įor example: black squares must be grouped with white suns, and white squares must be grouped with black suns. These multicolored squares are okay to share a space with the suns as long as they're not from the same color as the suns. There will be times you see the sun puzzles paired with multicolored squares, which you would separate as normal in most cases. Just remember, the number of same-colored suns in the same space can’t exceed two. But in a 2x2 grid with two orange suns and two pink suns, it’s okay if all four share the same space. Suns must be separated into pairs if they’re the same color, but can be grouped with other pairs of suns if they’re all different colors.įor example: in a 2x2 grid with four orange suns, two pairs of suns have to be separated by the line you draw. Think of them like "negative" blocks capable of subtracting pieces from tetrominoes. The outlined blue Tetris-like blocks can cancel out blocks from Tetris shapes, allowing you to modify the shape you need to make. The horizontal 4-block tetromino fits along the very bottom of the grid, while the two vertical 3-block tetrominoes fit to the left and right of the grid, stacked on top of the horizontal block so they don't overlap. If you're trying to fit more than one shape into a single space with your line, those shapes have to be able to stack and fit alongside each other without overlapping.Īs an example of all these rules combined, notice the way the solution in the puzzle pictured above works. What you can't do, however, is overlap the physical shapes themselves. As long as both symbols are within the space of your combined shape, you can rearrange the shapes themselves in any way that fits. In many puzzles, you’ll need to combine two shapes to make it work, in which case it’s important to remember that the shapes you’re drawing don’t necessarily need to "contain" their corresponding symbols. Tetris block puzzles require you to draw tetromino shapes with your line while making sure the symbol for that shape occupies a space inside the shape you’ve drawn. Black dots can be picked up with lines of any color. If the dots appear in different colors, like on Symmetry Island, it means you have to collect those dots with a line of the corresponding color – so blue lines can only get blue dots and yellow lines can only get yellow dots. Think of it like connecting the dots! You must connect all the dots before reaching the end point for this to work. In order to complete puzzles that feature these tiny black hexagon-shaped dots, the line you draw must intersect with each one along the way before reaching the end point. Scroll further down the page for information on environmental clues. New challenges emerge when rules are combined and sometimes the solution isn't even apparent on the grid itself.įor tangible and recurring puzzle types, see the list below. But for the most part, puzzles in The Witness are actually grid-based problems, where the "dead ends" and "winding paths" are determined by layers of new rules introduced in each area on the island. Sometimes the puzzles actually do resemble mazes, with winding paths and dead ends. It's easy to think of puzzles in The Witness as mazes. Every puzzle in The Witness is driven by this basic and intuitive mechanism. Puzzles in The Witness revolve around a simple, line-drawing mechanic, where you must draw the correct path from a circular starting point to a rounded end point. Think of it as a trimmer that you could connect and keep in your washroom. You can charge cordless trimmers and use them till they run out of charge.Ĭorded trimmers are best for those who want continuous sessions and will be using them only at specific locations. Cordless ones, on the other hand, need not stay connected to a power outlet. Corded trimmers, as the name implies, need to stay connected to a power adapter when you use them. In addition to the types of trimmers, you need to also decide how you will be using the trimmer. These types of trimmers are also not very easy to clean. They are also silent but don’t offer the clean shave that foil trimmers are known for. The rotary trimmers are extremely flexible and can cut through thick hair as well. They feature rotary blades on the head of the device, which rotates to trim the hair. Rotary trimmers are better than foil trimmers and were pioneered by Philips. These trimmers are easy to use and clean, but they can also be noisy and work only in horizontal and vertical directions, making them rather cumbersome to use. Behind this film of foil, you will find two sets of oscillating blades. Foil trimmers are the ones that came earlier and used a film of foil over the head of the trimmer. There are basically two types of trimmers: foil trimmers and rotary trimmers. In a nutshell, you should pick the brand that you trust. There is also the value-focused UAE-based NOVA, which has made a name for itself with attractive prices. We also have premium, established brands like Wahl and Braun from the USA and Germany. There are new Indian brands like Ustraa, Beardo and boAt trying to flex their muscles, while Havells is venturing beyond fans, electric irons, and food processors. Then there is Xiaomi, which has made a huge name for itself in the smartphone market and is trying to disrupt other areas as well. For example, Philips and Panasonic have been around for a long time, and they are known for offering a wide array of consumer electronics devices. As you can see from the list of brands mentioned above, some of them are known names in the market. This is the most obvious place to start since there are a number of brands in the market. With all these factors in mind, here are the brands that are the most prominent in the trimmers for men: Brand Name Apart from the brand, other deciding factors include battery run time, the design and feel in hand, and whether the device is corded or cordless. There are a number of brands to choose from when getting yourself a new trimmer.
